Tickled Pink! Beatrice Borremo Channels Hollywood Royalty in Her Wedding to Grace Kelly’s Grandson Pierre Casiraghi

Italian heiress Beatrice Borremo was every bit the blushing bride when she wed longtime boyfriend Pierre Casiraghi (seventh in line to the Monaco throne) in a civil ceremony in Monaco’s Pink Palace on Saturday.

The 29-year-old model-turned-journalist wore a pale pink Valentino Haute Couture dress that channeled the pink dress Casiraghi’s grandmother, Grace Kelly, wore on the day of her civil ceremony to Prince Rainier in 1956.

“Grace Kelly’s frock in comparison was much more restrained and lady-like — little gloves, Peter Pan collar, neat buttons and hat — but both she and Beatrice demonstrated their brilliant command of style through their choice of wedding dress,” Sophie Goodwin, Tatler’s Style Editor tells PEOPLE. “Reinventing what a bride should wear, they went for washed out shades of pink lace — a modern and bold choice in each instance.”

Goodwin adds, “Elegant, understated and refreshingly different, I particularly liked the lace fluted elbow length sleeves, floral headband and small matching bouquet. It seemed to represent [Beatrice’s] free-spirited personality.”

Borremo took another page out of Princess Grace’s book when she changed into a more ornate gown later in the evening.

The young bride turned heads in a striking white backless gown with silver embroidery, also by Valentino.

Decades earlier, Hollywood stunner Kelly was every bit the princess bride in her second wedding gown — a lace, silk taffeta and tulle gown with a fitted bodice — that she wore during her religious ceremony.

Borremo and Casiraghi, 27, are expected to travel to Italy’s Lake Maggiore next week to prepare for their religious service next Saturday, which will be held on one of the Borromeo family’s private islands. Speculation in the Italian media suggests the ceremony will be held on either the Isola Bella or the smallest island in the Borromeo family’s archipelago, the Isolino di San Giovanni.
