Uzo Aduba on Her Long Hair: I Said, ‘Let’s Give It a Dance!’

Whoa, Uzo! While everyone is buzzing about the upcoming season of Orange Is the New Black, we can’t stop talking about star Uzo Aduba’s new hairstyle.

“[My hairstylist] just wanted to try something like wavy and bouncy and I thought, ‘yeah, let’s give it a dance,’ ” Aduba told PEOPLE at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences screening of OITNB in West Hollywood, California, on Wednesday.

Aduba added that she’s very open to switching up her look. “I’m always up for a change,” she said. “I love trying new things. I don’t feel like anybody should be like entirely married to one thing forever so I felt like changing it.”

And the change of season played a leading role in her new do as well. “It felt good and like fresh and nice for summer,” said Aduba, who says her style is influenced by “Old Hollywood” glamour.

While Aduba might love to change up her tresses, she’s very loyal to one designer — Christian Siriano. The two collaborated over her Emmy’s dress last year and have been working together since on a variety of red carpet looks.

“He was just so lovely and so kind and has been so nice,” she shared, adding that the white dress she wore to the event was a great fit. “I just liked the shape of the collar and this neck.”
