Valentino’s Sales Are Looking Up, Thanks To One Accessory

In the past years, when you’ve imaged the house of Valentino, street style isn’t a thought that automatically came to mind. Couture? Yes. Dreamer’s paradise? Of course. But street-style? Not necessarily.
Well now it’s safe to say those images have changed in fashion’s most recent years. Starting in 2010, Valentino has had a major influence throughout street style – with camouflage, eclectic furs and butterfly printed separates literally showing up everywhere. And thanks to a recent interview with Style.com, creative designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli revealed that they have one specific accessory to credit for their recent success: the Rockstud shoe.
Ever since the footwear style was introduced, Valentino’s sales increased by 36%, with accessories representing half of all sales. “When we started, we were obsessed—and are also obsessed now—to create a style. We never think to do something only for one season. We want to speak a language that speaks about style, and that becomes timeless,” Chiuri told Style.com.
Bloggers, celebrities, and influencers alike have given the infamous shoe the street-style stamp of approval, making it an obsessive staple in just about every aspect. And with its success over the years, it’s safe to say that if you don’t have a pair, you’re probably on the verge of getting some pretty soon.
