It’s been a busy, but stylish summer for the Obamas. Besides their respective responsibilities (meeting dignitaries, interning on a T.V. set, public appearances), the entire brood came together for a handful of trips, including their yearly trek to Martha’s Vineyard.

Per usual, the last summer getaway promised rest, relaxation and fashion for us to gawk over. Although they sometimes share clothes–because that’s what sisters are for–Sasha and Malia have developed personal styles that are super easy to replicate.

This past week, both girls were spotted rocking the same denim dress, a must have for back to school season and beyond. As we enter the fall, layering is key when it comes to this specific item.

Pair with a cardigan or cropped jacket if it doesn’t have sleeves or wear with printed stockings and heels if the hemline is short. Unconventional patterns are also encouraged as the standard t-shirt style can get boring, so look for unique stitchings and accents made with different materials.
