Just Blaze Defends the "Harlem Shake"
”People Sometimes Overthink It” The “Harlem Shake” viral fad has taken the world by storm, but some have complained about the popular meme based on DJ/producer Baauer’s club track. Critics claim the craze’s name is disrespectful to the original “Harlem Shake” dance–which it has nothing to do with. But producer Just Blaze told Angela Yee that he isn’t offended by the latest trend and shared that he believes people are over-thinking the situation. “It’s no disrespect towards Harlem, but it’s like times change, things evolve. This is the entertainment industry.” Just Blaze said. “So it’s not like the record was made to disrespect the original “Harlem Shake.” It was a vocal sample from a record, chopped up, and made the title of the song. It’s like people sometimes over think it.” |
