Tell me about yourself!
My name is Ikeela Sealey a.k.a Toffee. I am 32 years young, and I’m a Dance Director at Sticky Dance studio.

Were you a transitioner or a Big Chopper? What was your journey like?
I was a big chopper. I shaved my head completely bald on one side, and when I decided to grow my hair back, I did the chop to make it even.

Had you always embraced your texture?
In my teens, I had one perm and never again. My hair didn’t feel the same until I had the chop.

How did family and friends react to your decision to go natural? What was your response to them? 
My family grew up on natural hair, so it didn’t phase them.

Describe your hair (fine or coarse, thin or thick, highly porous, low, etc.) 
My hair is coarse and thick.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to your hair? 
The craziest thing I’ve ever done is colour my hair blonde in my teen years. It came out white. I went to hairdressers and asked them to fix it. They said they couldn’t, and I needed to cut it all off. So, I did. Then I rocked extension braids for a while.

What’s your biggest hair related regret?
My biggest hair regret was coloring my own hair and trying to cut my own fringe. It ended up looking like a line across the top of my forehead.

What’s your current hair routine? How often do you wash, condition, and style? Favorite products! Deets!
I wash my hair everyday due to my job as a dance director. My styles are Wash and Gos or Bantu knots unraveled.

What’s your favorite hairstyle? Where do you get hairstyle inspiration?
My inspiration has been My Natural Sistas YouTube channel and my hairdresser HSUK.

Who is your curl crush? 
I love India (of My Natural Sistas) curls and styles.

How do you maintain your hair at night? 
Bantu knots and a satin scarf.

How do you maintain healthy length?
I apply water to my scalp everyday.

What’s the best thing about being natural?
The best thing about being natural is when people ask where did I buy my weave from and my reply is it’s my own hair. I like to inspire other woman to rock their own hair. Lead by example.
