Natisha Is Naturally Glam!

Tell me about yourself!
Hmmmm, well my name is Natisha Johns- Molhoop, I’m 23 years old, a mother, wife, and a clothing designer with a massive sweet tooth!

Were you a slow transitioner or a Big Chopper & why? What was your journey like?
My journey is a bit complicated. My first attempt at being natural included a 5 month transition period before the BC.This was because I just wanted to be natural sooooo badly, however, unsupportive people around me influenced my decision to jerry curl then subsequently relax again. You can guess what happened next, yes! my huuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrr fell out. I had a straight up Mr. T looking fade! so, the weekend before my wedding I stood in front of my mirror, shaved my head, and haven’t looked back since.

Had you always embraced your texture?
Absolutely not! I won’t even front. lol. I had curl envy.

How did family and friends react to your decision to go natural? What was your response to them?
They were unsupportive at first, and I must admit it made me self-conscious, and I got a relaxer but after my hair started falling out I guess it made us all realize what the best option was.

Describe your hair (fine or coarse, thin or thick, highly porous, low, etc.)
My hair is thin, pretty coarse with normal porosity. it tends to be a bit dry these days, since its still recovering from child birth.

What’s your current hair routine? How often do you wash, condition, and style? Favorite products! Deets!
I usually wash my hair every 2 weeks with black soap, but I do a weekly co-wash. I would usually style my hair between 3-5 times per week. My desired style usually determines my night routine e.g if I want to rock a bantu knot out I will section my whole head into twist then go over each section with a mixture of whatever conditioner I have at hand and coconut oil, detangle, re-twist then bantu knot. If I want a twist out that lasts more than a week, i dampen my hair in the shower, then proceed to twist, applying a mixture of melted shea butter and coconut oil as I twist each section. I’m not a huge product junkie but black soap, shea butter and coconut oil are my best friends!

What’s your favorite hairstyle? Where do you get hairstyle inspiration?
My favorite style would definitely be the puff, its so quick and simple, but when it comes to style inspiration, youtube is my go to.

Who is your curl crush?
uuuuuhhhhhh ! whitney, naptural85 for sure!

How do you maintain your hair at night?
I generally tie my hair up with a satin scarf.

How do you maintain healthy length?
I trim my ends at the first sight of a split! but I love protective and low manipulation styles, and I try to deep condition every time I wash.

What’s the best thing about being curly?
I just looove how it looks! big curly hair just takes any outfit to a fabulous level.
