CELEBRITY STYLE: 5 FASHION & STYLE TIPS PLUS SIZE WOMEN CAN LEARN FROM JENNIFER LOPEZ
Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Some of you may be surprised to know that one of my absolute favorite stylish celebrites and stylish curvy girls is none other than Miss Jennifer Lopez. My fondness and style crushing for Jennifer all started with her debut album “On The 6.” That was my jam back in the 90’s. Before ITunes I used to slide that CD in and just let loose in the privacy of my room.
Although I hate using this word, but, Jennifer’s swagger was everything back then and even til this day. I loved how she use to mix her Bronx street style with high fashion. I loved how she embraces her ample behind and wide hips with no apologies. And now that she is a woman of a certain age, the woman is still doing the damn thing. I mean, no celebrity wears all white like Lopez and no other celebrity (in my opinion) makes rocking jeans look so glamorous. From her chic sunnies to her fierce poses there is just something about Jennifer that always made me walk with confidence and dress to the beat of my own drum.
Here are 5 fashion and style tips that I’ve learned from MS. Lopez and as a plus size women you should too.
1. Go The Tailored Route
Whenever we see Jennifer, her clothes seem to always fit like a glove. Jennifer’s looks are always sleek and chic. Whether it’s high waisted trousers or a structured shift. Jennifer keeps her curves looking streamlined. As plus size women, we always think we can just buy off the rack and the clothes are going to fit amazingly. Uh, no, sorry! Think again! If you want a look that embraces your plus size figure in a flattering way, a tailor will give you that look. Having your skirts, pants, and dresses fitted to your exact measurements is the greatest thing you can do for your plus size curves.
2. Embrace Bold Bright Colors
When Jenny from the block was a judge on American Idol, I was seriously crushing on all her body con colored dresses. The unforgettable Michael Kors pink high split number was my favorite.
There are quite a few plus size women who are afraid of all over color due to fear of looking bigger. I say, whether you’re a plus size girl with an hour glass shape or an apple shape you can do all over color as long as you find the right cut and style for your shape. If you’re an apple shape try a bold colored shift dress or wrap dress.
