Finding My Fashion Week #FashionTruth With ModCloth

In their continued efforts to provide amazing clothes for women of all sizes, leading online retailer ModCloth launched the #FashionTruth campaign to promote body confidence and allow their customers to tell their own fashion truths.

Yesterday afternoon ModCloth put on a super fun and uplifting event where people of all ages and sizes came out for a “Photo Pop-up – A Casting Call For All” as part of this #FashionTruth campaign. I was excited to see what ModCloth would pull off and suffice it so say they did not disappoint!

When I walked up to Openhouse on Mulberry Street in SoHo, two women met me with beaming faces at the front and asked if I would like to be a part of a photo pop up. I was surprised I was even approached seeing that I was a sweaty mess from the non-air conditioned downtown 6 train, but it goes to show that this truly was a “casting call for all.”

After trying to not jump on the candy bar in the corner that I spotted way too quickly, I sat down on a plush couch with other ModCloth fans to fill out a short questionnaire before my photoshoot (glam, darling, glam!) The form included questions like “What’s your favorite song?” All Falls Down by Kanye West, easy.  Favorite snack? So. Many. Good. Snacks. Hmm, what did I binge on last night at 3am? Japanese rice crackers? Good enough.

It took me awhile to figure out what my #fashiontruth would be, but the answer turned out to be in my Twitter bio all along: ‘wear purple lipstick, no one dies.’ Hurray! Now I was off to pose and pivot like the supermodel I am for the ModCloth photographers.
