It’s late on a weeknight and I receive a text that reads, “You got that stuff for me?” It’s not the stuff you’re thinking of. My friend is texting me for curly and natural hair products. Like so many other women with natural hair, my friend and I share what could only be described as an addiction to sampling new hair products.

As countless beauty bloggers post product reviews and the drug store aisle explodes with more and more options, it’s hard to resist the indulgence. But is it worth it? Honestly I’m not so sure.

After over six years of being natural and trying more products than I can count, I like my hair, but I don’t love it like I used to.

Here’s what I’ve learned from transitioning and loving it to product binging in search of the perfect curl and what the experts have to say about it.
