Man Fakes Kidnapping to Fool His Wife & Party With Friends

Sometimes, when your wife or girlfriend won’t let you do something, it’s time to take drastic measures. At least that was the tought process of a Texas man recently, who staged his own kidnapping in order to go party with his friends.

Rogelio Andaverde had two masked men bust into his Monte Alto home, grab him at gunpoint, and carry him out at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. His wife, who had no reason to believe the kidnapping wasn’t real, immediately called the police. A manhunt ensued, but police got suspicious when no leads turned up.

“I looked at the guys and said, ‘Do you really believe this?'” said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino. “He’s just a regular joe, no criminal history–anything. It’s just not right.”

Investigators on the case found out on Thursday morning that Andaverde had simply walked back into his house with no injuries, and claimed the captors just let him leave. That roost didn’t last for long though, as he was taken in for questioning and admitted to what he had done.

“He’s going to party in jail now,” said Trevino. “It’s humorous in a way, but also it’s very serious.”

Well, he did get his wish–he’s away from his wife now.
