Solange ROCKS THE MIC At The Roots Picnic In Philly + J. Cole’s "Crooked Smile" Featuring TLC

Solange was spotted on stage at 6th Annual Roots Picnic in Philly over the weekend. See her performance pics and video inside and listen to the catchy single "Crooked Smile" by J. Cole featuring TLC.

Over the weekend, Solange Knowles performed at the 6th Annual Roots Picnic at the Festival Pier in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Though she’s known around the world as a fashion icon, Solange revealed to The "L" Magazine (a Brooklyn-based publication) that her most important role is being a mom.  And she said living in Brooklyn (near family and friends) allows her to be a better mother.

“You know…my parents are here, my sister is here, my cousin is here, all my friends are here. We really wanted Julez to have the experience that we had growing up—being able to drop in on his aunt’s house and being able to hang out with Grandma and see our friends and have that experience of actually having a soccer game and having family show up. It’s such a beautiful feeling, but also having that village is a necessary reality so that I’m able to pursue my passion both outside of motherhood and outside of my career.”

And in other new music…..

On "Crooked Smile" J. Cole enlists TLC for a song about embracing one’s imperfections.  Off of his upcoming disc Born Sinner (June 18), he raps,

They tell me I should fix my grill cause I got money now
I ain’t gon’ sit around and front like I ain’t thought about it
A perfect smile is more appealing but it’s funny how
My shit is crooked look at how far I done got without it
I keep my twisted grill, just to show them kids it’s real
We ain’t picture perfect but we worth the picture still

Fans can hear J. Cole perform the catchy tune when he hits the road for the “Dollar & A Dream” tour on June 11.
