The CFDA Awards red carpet had plenty of stop-and-stare moments, like Gigi Hadid’s glittery jumpsuit, Kim Kardashian West’s sheer Proenza Schouler design and Julianna Margulies’ underwear-baring dress, but we were equally intrigued by the unique accessory trend happening — hair jewelry! Below, all the scoop on Janelle Monae’s ring-adorned updo and Emmy Rossum’s bracelet-secured chignon.

Monae sparkled in a custom Tadashi Shoji cape dress with beautiful shimmering paillettes and Christian Louboutin heels (you have to check out this sketch of her look!), but it was her polished accessories that added that “something extra” to her ensemble. She sported a Lorraine Schwartz cuff, ring and earring, plus gold Ofira bands woven into her braided updo.

Next up, Rossum’s ladylike twisted knot. She secured her low chignon with a diamond studded interlocking Eva Fehren bracelet, and she took to Instagram to show it off. “It’s all the in (diamond) details,” she captioned the snap of her sleek look. And the simple hairstyle balanced out her sheer cutout Dion Lee halter dress.
