CFDA Awards 2015: Go Behind the Scenes with Brittany Snow and Designer Rachel Roy

Celebrities and designers came together to celebrate one of fashion’s biggest honors with glam gowns, sultry smoky eyes and whimsical accessories at Monday night’s CFDA Awards. But before arriving at the event, stars spent hours prepping to perfect their final red-carpet looks. And because we were so obsessed with Brittany Snow’s sexy Rachel Roy x RVN ensemble from the evening, we’ve got the exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the duo prepping in the Presidential Suite in N.Y.C.’s Surrey Hotel for the stylish night ahead!

“I love getting ready for the CFDAs,” says designer Rachel Roy, “but it starts before you even slip on the clothes. You have to find the perfect date first.”

Which why is the designer thought long and hard before asking Brittany Snow to accompany her to the stylish star-studded evening.

“This year, I wanted guests [who] would bring life to my design collaboration with RVN knitwear, Rachel Roy + RVN,” she says. “So I invited Brittany Snow, and since my friend Erin Wasson could not make it to N.Y.C., she selected a dress for the lovely Tilda Lindstam to wear.”

So how did the Pitch Perfect 2 star’s gorgeous off-the-shoulder teal midi dress with black pleated detailing come to life? With a few rough sketches, of course. “Every perfect red-carpet look begins with a sketch and a fitting,” she says. “So Brittany Snow met with Ted Kim [of RVN] and me to custom-make her look.”

And after the final fitting, it was time for the glam squad to step in! The trio relied on a team of hair, makeup and nail gurus (from Butter London, Charlotte Tilbury and Algenist) to help get them gorgeous and red-carpet-ready.

As for the makeup, a smoky eye was in store — at least for Roy! “[Makeup artist] Cynde Watson has mastered my smoky eye, but she’s also the queen of a fresh-out-of-bed understated but sexy look, too.”

“Devin, the hair genius behind a perfect look on a rainy night, came to the rescue for all three of us,” Roy says. “[He] calmed the most unruly flyaways!”

And like every other woman with a stiletto obsession, Roy and and her dates had more than enough pumps to choose from to fit them for weeks!
