Cutouts, Cutouts and More Cutouts: What Stars Wore to the ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Premiere

Evidently there was a memo (most of) the stars got regarding what to wear to the L.A. premiere of Pitch Perfect 2 Friday night: aca-cutouts. Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp and Elizabeth Banks all went with the tried-and-true red carpet trend, albeit in very different ways. While those four ladies were in harmony with their ensembles, Rebel Wilson and Hailee Steinfeld took a pass on the skin-revealing look and opted for dresses that ranged from slightly more covered up to way, way, way covered up (we’re looking at you, Steinfeld).

Kendrick chose a two-tone Stella McCartney gown featuring a slash just above her right hip and a mini train. She accessorized the blue-and-purple one-shoulder design with a pearlescent box clutch and delicate Graziela Gems ear cuffs. (By the way, cutouts factored into her afterparty dress, too: She wore an Altuzarra black lace number with a keyhole cutout.)

Also showing slivers of skin, Snow wore an Edition by Georges Chakra gown complete with four cutouts at the bodice, plus narrow sheer panels down the skirt. Camp (who took over PEOPLE’s Instagram for the premiere!) followed in her costars’ footsteps with a bejeweled black mini boasting two illusion slashes at the waist and two at the back. And Banks hit the carpet in a Marchesa creation — skinny black pants and an embroidered, fringed scarf halter — that mimics the cutout trend thanks to an open back dissected by two horizontal black bands.

Meanwhile, Steinfeld and Wilson marched to the beat of their own drum (we get points for every musical phrase we use in this post, right?) with non-cutout looks. Steinfeld went dramatic in a long-sleeve, high-neck Dolce & Gabbana gown and Wilson picked a kelly-green V-neck dress with a nipped waist and figure-flattering assymetrical ruffles. (The best part of her outfit, though, is obviously the custom #PITCH clutch by Edie Parker.)

Which of the Pitch Perfect 2 stars’ look did you like most? Are you still loving the cutout trend on the red carpet or are you aca-over it?
