Eva Longoria Is Throwing Her Hat In The Celebrity Designer Ring

Eva Longoria is ready to add her name to the long list of celebrity fashion lines, but she has one slight advantage: she can sew.

The “Desperate Housewives” star is adding fashion designer to her already lengthy resume, which includes acting, directing and producing, by teaming up with Sunrise Brands to release a fashion label set to launch Fall 2016.

Longoria opened up about her decision to start a fashion line, which will include apparel, handbags and shoes, to WWD, saying she always knew she wanted to design a clothing line, and has been designing for friends for years.

“Halloween costumes to dresses” for herself and her friends. “It’s one of the things people don’t know about me,” she said. “I sew.”

She is in the very early stages of the designing process, but she is looking in her own closet for inspiration. “I’m a control freak about anything relating to my brand and myself,” she said. “We’re going through my closet now and picking fabulous pieces.”

Along with her own extensive wardrobe, we have a feeling Longoria will be turning to Victoria Beckham, her longtime BFF, for some fashion advice.She said she is “the biggest fan of Victoria Beckham.” “She lives and breathes fashion,” Longoria said of Beckham. “She spends every waking hour on it.”

So how would Longoria describe her personal style. The actress is a fan of dresses, and believes you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look great.

“I would describe my personal style as classic and comfortable,” she said. “Not only my garments, but my own skin, too.” The collection will appeal to working women, who “doesn’t want to spend a lot on her wardrobe, but still wants to look like a million bucks.”

Luckily for us, Longoria also took the guilt out of splurging on her new collection, as proceeds from the clothing line will go to a good cause.

“We’re definitely going to give back in some way,” said Longoria, who is the founder of the Eva Longoria Foundation and Eva’s Heroes. “Whether that’s through creating jobs or where we source our textiles. We want to align ourselves with philanthropy and empower women.”
