Go From Extensions To Glam Bob With These Expert Tips

It’s that time of year again.

When the temperatures rise, so do the number of bob (or lobs) we see on the red carpet. Jennifer Lopez recently said goodbye to her extensions for a fuss-free chop, and the pop star has never look better.

On the Tony Awards’ red carpet she took it up another level, and went glam with her bob, featuring side-swept bangs and curls.

If you are thinking about taking out your extensions, or just going for the big chop this summer, this hairstyle is super easy to recreate.

Linzee Katzman, from Ted Gibson NYC, broke it down and showed us how to get the look in four easy steps.

But before you start styling fresh extension-free hair, keep this in mind.

“When woman take out they’re extensions its import to thoroughly brush they’re hair to remove any tangles which could ultimately lead to breakage,” Katzman said. “Be sure to also brush your extensions out starting from the bottom and working your way to the top of the weft, this will keep the hair fuller for longer.”

For the Jennifer Lopez hair how-to, follow the steps below:

1. To begin recreating this look, start off by blowing drying your hair with a round brush, this will encourage a bouncy, airy finish. The key to getting a soft and sultry fringe is by blow drying your bangs forward and then pushing them off to the side using your hands.
2. Use hairspray to fluff your hair, that will bring out the curl from your round brush handy work. Use a medium size curling iron through the last 5 inches of your hair if necessary.
3. From there, working on the opposite side of your part, rake the hair back with your fingers past the ear and lightly pinch the hair, insert booby pin towards your face for maximum security.
4. Dress this style up, or wear is casually for a flirty finish!
