Helen Mirren’s Favorite Dress Is As Elegant As You’d Expect It To Be

Even A-list celebs have that one dress they can’t seem to keep out of their wardrobe rotation. For Helen Mirren, it’s an elegant black floral Dolce & Gabbana midi dress. She’s worn the high-fashion design not once but on five separate occasions!

The Oscar-winning actress may be a red-carpet regular, but when it comes to dressing for events, she’s learned a thing or two over the years, including what works and what doesn’t. And from her most recent outings, it seems like her Dolce & Gabbana floral number is most definitely a piece that works.

Mirren most recently wore her favorite floral frock, along with a jade green cardigan and black open-toe pumps, to the premiere of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in N.Y.C. A few weeks before that, she chose it for a get-together for her The Audience director Stephen Daldry. She accessorized the ensemble with a different cardiga cardigan, white pumps and a matching sleek handbag.

The Dame previously wore the dress three times in 2013, but notably absent from all five wears? Her all-time favorite footwear, of course.

“They were stripper shoes I used to buy on Hollywood Boulevard,” she said. “Thirty-nine dollars, they cost me … They give you like, an immediate seven inches,” she told Jay Leno in an interview in 2010.

“Four-inch platforms give you great height and make your legs look unbelievably long,” Mirren has said, noting that other people may be onto her trick. “I used only to be able to get them in stripper shops, but now you can buy them everywhere.”

Do you love her dress? What piece in your closet can you not stop wearing?
