Nasty Gal Is Back To Knock-offs, Moschino Is The New Target

The copy for the Nasty Gal “Go Moto Crossbody Bag” begins with “We took our moto obsession all the way to our bag collection. ” The statement is humorous because it’s clear to us, and the diligent folks over at The Fashion Law, that the brand took their moto obsession right from the Moschino runway.

When Jeremy Scott showed his Pepto Bismol pink hued collection last season, it sent the typical jolt of fun we’ve come to expect from the designer during his short tenure at Moschino. He knew it would and the designer wanted to catalyze on that so he put a selection of the wares up for sale immediately after the show. In that selection was the moto jacket bag.

The bag was significant because the silhouette took the Perfecto jacket and simply morphed it into a bag. It was kitschy, it was fun, it was new, and it was inspired. The creation that Nasty Gal has posted to their site is a pretty direct copy of that.

With cheaper materials and less flashier detailing — a dull silver instead of an eye-catching gold — the online retailer has posted their copy of the bag. And while some may call foul saying Moschino is a brand who has made their name off of knock-offs, we’d beg to differ. Moschino has made their name off of being inspired by others, as their bag was inspired by the Perfecto jacket and then morphed into a bag. This, seems to be naught but a blatant knock off on Nasty Gal’s part
