Iris Apfel, has outlasted and stunted on her contemporaries with her flawless style. So it’s only fitting that the 93-year-old eccentric fashion icon has been cemented in time as the subject of Albert Maysles current documentary, Iris.

Born in Astoria, Queens, New York in 1921, the only child of Samuel and Sadye Barrel has done extremely well for herself since working at Women’s Wear Daily and for illustrator Robert Goodman. From being a visiting professor at age 90 at the University of Texas at Austin to taking part in design restoration projects for presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy to Carter, Reagan and Clinton — Ms. Apfel has continued to stay unique in the ever-changing fashion world.

The consultant and lecturer spoke with The Huffington Post about how to creatively dress up when going out, as well as the secret to her marriage to husband Carl Apfel. She married her husband in 1948 and he even celebrates his 100th birthday in the documentary.

One of The Guardian‘s fifty best-dressed over 50, Apfel has styled her way past her younger counterparts while remaining forever young.

Sadly, the director, Albert Maysles, passed away in March at the age of 88 and was not able to see the film’s release, but below you can see just how Iris flaunts her style and hear her tips that you can use as you age gracefully.
