Here’s Your Weekly Reminder of How Gorgeous Julianne Hough’s Engagement Ring Is

Julianne Hough was grinning from ear to ear during a trip to the nail salon in Los Angeles on Thursday — but hey, we would be too if we had that gorgeous 5-plus-carat Lorraine Schwartz bling on our left hand.

The Dancing with the Stars judge announced her engagement to hockey player Brooks Laich on Aug. 18, and while she kept the ring carefully hidden for some time afterwards, she revealed all the details about the glamorous rock — nay, boulder — in a blog post last week.

“The ring makes me feel very feminine and takes my breath away every time I look down, which I can’t stop doing, by the way,” she wrote.

She went on to admit that while she never thought she’d be “the girl sticking her hand out to her friends and screaming in unison,” she’s not immune to the just-engaged giddiness: “Here I am, shrieking all over Los Angeles.”

Hough, 27, and the Washington Capitals hockey player, 32, have been dating since February 2014.

They made their red carpet debut as an engaged couple on Sunday at the Television Academy Cocktail Reception for Outstanding Choreography in Beverly Hills, California — and her brother Derek gushed over the engagement to PEOPLE, hinting that he expects the wedding to the “something outdoors, in nature.”

“I couldn’t be happier for the two of them,” he said. “I knew that it was happening within the first month they were dating. It was one of those things where it was instant and that smile and glow she’s had hasn’t dimmed ever since she met [him].”
