How To Find The Fiercest Eyeshadow Color For Your Skin Tone

Eyeshadow is probably the most overwhelming product in your makeup bag. It’s messy, compact and comes in a gazillion different colors. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I avoid it all together if it means not having to decide what shade to wear. I’d rather go au naturale than look like a clown.
In an effort to save us all a headache and most importantly–time!–I’ve consulted an expert on which shades will make your skin pop this summer. Kate O’Brien, founder of Alima Pure, just launched her “Tides” collection, which is not only eco-friendly, but perfect for any and every skin tone; fair, medium and deep included.

Fair to light skin tones look best with soft washes of color. Cool pinks, soft peaches, taupes and fresh pastels will always be flattering. Go with shades a couple levels deeper to gently define the crease. Lastly, avoid dark greys, cool blues and purple hues that may look harsh against light skin.

Medium and deep complexions will be enlivened by bright and dramatic colors. Go with berry purples, golds, and rich blues and greens to emphasize the eye. Don’t be shy about trying dark or bold colors, and avoid light colors that will fade away or look chalky.
