Gina Rodriguez is adding businesswoman to her resume, as the “Jane The Virgin” star is now a partner in the lingerie company Naja.

Pronounced “na-ya,” the company founded by Catalina Girald is a lingerie company whose items are made by single mothers or women who are heads of households in Colombia. Described as “premium lingerie with a social impact,” the brightly colored lingerie is the latest in the “buy one, give one” trend of fashion company, as the company offers its employees child education benefits, including supplies, books, shoes, undergarments and school meals.

“She’s this big up-and-coming celeb with such a big voice,” Girald said of Rodriguez. “We decided that we wanted to work together to empower women and empower Latinas because that’s something that’s on Gina’s radar.”

The lingerie is made from five different recycled fabrics that are purchased and digitally printed in Los Angeles. Prices range from underwear at $25 and bras at $50, while swimwear retails for about $95, and is made from recycled plastic bottles.

“The idea is when you wear lingerie it’s about you and about yourself and if you want to share yourself with someone else that’s wonderful,” Gireald said. “But we want to move away from this idea that you wear lingerie to please someone else.”

Rodriguez is the latest equity holder for Naja, which also includes the CEO of HSN and the former CEO of Martha Stewart Living and Gilt Groupe.
