If you ask us, Kate Spade has had an interesting first quarter. Amidst surprising news at the top of the year that its Kate Spade Saturday and Jack Spade stores were closing, the company then took two steps forward and revealed the launch of a kidswear line. Well now the brand has plans on becoming more exclusive, and their strategy might surprise you!

According to Racked, in the company’s most recent earnings report, “Kate Spade executives told analysts that they were cutting back on the ‘40% off your purchase’-type sales and removing Kate Spade products sold in department stores from those sales as well,” – which means no more chic Kate Spade wallets on the ‘Discount’ table at Bloomingdales.

The news doesn’t come off as much of a surprise, especially after the company took a $55 million loss from shuttering its other brands. After all, we’re sure Kate Spade wants to avoid falling into the overexposed category of fashion.

While we make a pit stop to our nearest Bloomingdales to snag the last bit of Kate Spade on sale, check out a few accessories from their online shop that our spring closets are yearning for.
