Katie Holmes Is Obsessed With Socks (This Is Not a Drill)

Katie Holmes is opening up — her medicine cabinet and closet, that is. First she shared beauty secrets (did you know she styles her own hair all the time? And that she’s dying to try out red?) and now she’s opening up to Yahoo Style about all-things fashion. Find out why she’s loves Rihanna‘s aesthetic, her favorite thing in her closet (it’s totally not what you expect), plus, the reason why she won’t cut her hair any time soon.

Considering she’s a fashionista who (we’re assuming) has a closet chock-full of designer pieces (she mentions Saint Lauren and Alaïa as her “fashion weaknesses”), she’s actually all about a really good sock. “I don’t have enough, which is why I love them, because some of them have holes in them.” Alaïa can’t send over a few for her to wear?

While that’s not exactly what we were expecting her to name her favorite piece in her wardrobe, what is a little more believable is that she admires Rihanna’s style the most out of any fellow celebrity’s. “It’s perfect … she owns it and it goes with her music,” Holmes says. “She’s just herself. And it’s cool; she’s always so cool.”

The actress also addresses the photo that sparked the biggest wig debate we’ve had in a while. (To recap, she pranked us all before the Met Gala, teasing fans on Instagram that she went for a dramatic chop.) “Isn’t that what Instagram’s all about? You gotta play!” she says. Even though her 2008 bob kicked off a short-hair craze, she says would never get into the lob trend now. “I like the versatility of long hair,” she explains. “I like being able to put it into a ponytail. I’m a ponytail girl.”
