Monochromatic moments on the red carpet are nothing new. But matching your makeup to your ensemble seems to be Hollywood’s hottest of-the-moment trend. (Remember KeKe Palmer’s matchy-matchy beauty moment from last week?) So when we saw Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s bold citrus lip teamed with her equally bright dress at Buick’s 24 Hours of Happiness event, we just had to reach out to her go-to makeup pro, Patrick Ta, for all of the exclusive deets!

Inspired by Dewan-Tatum’s eye-popping plunging Solace London dress, the makeup pro says as soon as he saw the actress’s orange dress, he immediately knew he’d opt for an equally bright lip. “Jenna and I have been working together for a little bit now and she really trusts me, so I am always able to ‘play,’ ” he tells PEOPLE. “She dies for a pop on her lip!”
To perfect her poppy coral stain, Ta filled in the actress’s lips with Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Spicy for an ultra-saturated matte look that complemented her sun-kissed cheeks (which came courtesy of Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush).
Ta tells PEOPLE although he’s been working with Dewan-Tatum for a few months now, the pair always have fun. And they especially love to take their work outdoors to soak up this season’s gorgeous weather — not to mention it’s easier to work in the sunlight.

“I love glamming with Jenna because we always glam outside,” Ta says. “There is such great lighting outside, plus the view from her home is to die for!” (Is he talking about husband Channing Tatum? Because we wouldn’t blame him if he was!)
