Lucky’s Famed Editor, Eva Chen Resigns

As Lucky transitions from print to digital, its leader Eva Chen will not be along for the ride. The famed editor and street style star that has been with the fashion publication under Condé Nast since June 2013, resigned this morning.

Shared with her Twitter and Instagram followers, the talent gave the news aways saying, “It was an intensely personal/difficult decision for me to come to (tears were definitely involved). But it’s the right one for me right now.”

As reported by WWD:

Multiple sources indicated to WWD that the magazine is going all digital, and that several investors in Silicon Valley have been interested in an acquisition of the company. Chen was spotted having lunch with Condé Nast president Bob Sauerberg in the building’s cafeteria Tuesday. It could not be determined whether Chen would remain at Condé Nast. Sources indicated that Lucky Group president Gillian Gorman Round will likely be dismissed.

Transitioning the magazine into an e-commerce destination, the exit comes at an interesting time at Conde Nast. On Monday the media conglomerate fired five staffers from Style.com, including its popular fashion market director Rachael Wang. They also announced the Style.com would be absorbed under Vogue.com, focusing on luxury e-commerce.

For reasons of family, another job or just stability in the field, we thank Chen for all the fabulous style moments she gave us while at Lucky— see them on the next pages.
