Lupita Nyong’o’s ‘Glamping’ Trip Included a Very Creative Way to Iron Her Hair (Literally.)

As the face of Lancôme, Lupita Nyong’o knows something about being glam no matter where she is — whether it’s attending the most A-list events during Paris Couture Fashion Week or working alongside elephants in Kenya on a “glamping” trip. The actress just shared our favorite beauty throwback Thursday we’ve ever seen — providing the only true hair trick you’ll need to survive the summer.

If you’re planning on going on camping and have forgotten key toiletries (but your butler is traveling with your full iron and tailoring set) follow : the advice of Nyong’o’s stylist Vernon François. “When you go #glamping and you forgot your spray bottle, an iron can come in very handy… #multipurposehouseholdappliances #Kenya #Amboseli #Safariglam #thisiscalledcreativity #dontturniton” And she hashtags one (very important) aspect of the technique: don’t turn on the iron!

Earlier this month, she embarked on a week-long stay in Kenya advocating for a variety of issues, including elephant conservation, women’s issues and the arts. While promoting the Ivory Free campaign with WildAid — and standing just feet away from elephants — she paused for a lip touch-up from makeup artist, Nick Barose.

Earlier in the trip, Barose shared another shot of his safari “office” explaining that while one only needs sunblock and bug spray on safari, he’s testing out his heat-proof beauty products to see how they hold up in the elements.

So if you were like us, and couldn’t understand how she looked immaculate in her plethora of safari-grams (see below), she was in good hands with her two main men and coming up with resourceful tips like the beauty and fashion genius she is.
