Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements

As soon as I heard about the newly launched Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements palette I knew it would be something I would love and I made a note to pick it up as soon as I was near a Superdrug (I try really hard not to order online from the Makeup Revolution site as I’m not capable of ordering just one thing) but thankfully I was lucky enough to be sent it at the end of last week.

MUR Iconic Elements REview

The moment it arrived I got snapping as I wanted to use it immediately.  It’s a palette of 12 nudes, 11 of which are matte and 1 token shimmer.  When I read about the shimmer shade I was a bit disappointed as I wanted a full matte palette, but having tried it out for myself it works beautifully and is actually a very clever addition to a matte palette.

I’d say the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics is pretty much my all-time favourite palette since it contains six extremely easy to use, ashy mattes that allow for a contour effect on the eye; I often go for minimal make-up looks and these sort of shadow-like shades allow for contouring and definition without screaming that you’re wearing anything on your eyes.

The Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements offers these ashy, smokey nudes just like the ones in Naked2 Basics, plus an additional six shades that are equally easy and wearable.  The shimmer shade (3rd from the left on the palette) allows for the application of a little bit of light – either outer corners, brow bone or centre of eye – to stop the finish looking too flat which can happen with a matte-heavy eye.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements Look main

This is my favourite Makeup Revolution palette by far as it delivers a wide selection of amazing matte nudes, going from the very fair, flesh tones right to the deeper, darker smoky liners and including everything in between.  If you’re a fan of natural eye make-up then this is the palette for you, especially as the formula is slightly creamy and very blendable, meaning a quick eye look is very achievable, however you also have all the shades you need to do a really strong, smokey finish too.

It’ll be interesting to see how it compares swatch-wise to the Naked2 Basics palette, so I’ll try and do a comparative post soon.  The Makeup Revolution Iconic Elements palette is £4 (!!) here – link.
