Mariah Carey Has Easy Makeup Advice For Biracial Girls

M.A.C. Cosmetics is renowned for its high profile celebrity partnerships, but we’re actually surprised it took them this long to snag Mariah Carey. Perhaps the catalyst was her Vegas residency or the 25th anniversary of her career start; either way, we’re excited it’s happening. Yesterday (Sept. 29), PopSugar was first to break the news of MC’s “All I Want” limited edition lipstick and 2016 Icon Collection; the former set to debut this December.

The “beautiful champagne shimmer” of the throwback lippie is quite a departure from the go-to reds of holiday season, but what else do you expect from Mimi? She’s all for standing out in a crowd.

“I’ve always loved the frosty lip for Winter, because I think it blends in with the tone of the season,” she told PopSugar. “I don’t look good in a red lip, and I wanted to be able to wear the color. I know a lot of people who don’t care for red lipstick, either.”

Elaborating on her lipstick woes, Carey also has pretty sound advice for her fellow biracial beauties. Since our skin tones live on a wide spectrum, she recommends staying as close as you can to your natural shade.

“Stay closest to your natural color of your skin because we range in color, us biracial women. I would just say: be yourself and go with the colors that really work for you. It’s really hard to just lump all biracial people into one category because some of us have light eyes, some of us have dark eyes, some of us are darker and lighter.”

Easy enough. When we think of Mariah throughout the years, the one thing that hasn’t changed is her beauty. Although she’s experimented with a gang of hairstyles, red carpet looks and more, we find that we can identify with at least one of her style phases. Which Mariah look is most you?
