#MFW Spring 2016 Day 2 Recap: Water Works

The rainy streets of Milan weren’t the only water works we saw at fashion week yesterday.

At day two of Milan Fashion Week, we have Moschino, MaxMara and Emilio Pucci all inspired by some aspect of the natural resource. While Tommy Hilfiger was quite literal with his water games, at Jeremy Scott’s runway, it was a construction zone, complete with car wash, bubbles and the obligatory one-piece. In a mixture of hard hats, yellow tape and suds, it was all water and dirt at the Moschino show, and in typical Scott fashion, he brought the real world to the high fashion realm.

At Pucci, it was the underwater life that was his inspiration, with several slip dresses embroidered with fish and other sea creatures, evoking “The Little Mermaid” with bright colors and sparkle that brought an underwater paradise to life.

MaxMara brought the sailor’s life to the runway, with a nautical theme running through his collection, from the blue and red stripes to the rope cord necklines to the brass buttons on the trousers. It was high seas meets high fashion, complete with star gazing.

Fendi was signature Karl Lagerfeld with the monotone approach, but the color palette read like a sunset at sea, from the deep red and corals of the sun setting to the deep blues and blacks of the ocean.

For MFW Spring 2016 day two, water was the essence of the collections.
