Michelle Obama Dresses The Part (Literally) On Her European Tour

Michelle Obama arrives in Milan

Michelle Obama is busy making her way through Europe with her two daughters, and she is dressing the part.

While what she is wearing is nowhere near as important as what she is doing in London, Milan and beyond, it is always fun to point out when fashion and politics mix. Politicians have long-held relationships with the biggest designers, just look at Oscar de la Renta and his relationships with the First Ladies. However, when it comes to Obama’s approach to politics, she is choosing her wardrobe based on the designers of that country.

During her first stop in London, where she had tea with Prince Harry, visited an all-girls school and promoted her new campaign Let Girls Learn, she landed in a yellow and periwinkle blue dress by British label Preen. Next up was her Mary Katrantzou paisley print dress for her Let Girls Learn speech, and her meeting with the Prime Minister was held in a floral embroidered Christopher Kane dress.

Following her very British approach to fashion in London, Obama headed to Milan and continued her attempt to build foreign relations with Italy, wearing Missoni at the Milan Expo.

And don’t just think Mrs. Obama was the only one dressing the part. While Malia and Sasha were not so designer-specific, they definitely showed off their long legs in a variety of summer dresses on the trip.
