ModCloth Expanding, Coming To A City Near You

With a legion of followers, the online retailer is planning a major expansion, that includes physical retail locations in several cities. Currently, ModCloth has one store in San Francisco, and it is a “incubator” and signs of what is to come. Along with its signature clothing, the store also has a unique concept: a “fit shop” where customers try the clothes on in-house and have it sent to their home, while vintage items and accessories can be taken from the store directly.
Since Matt Kanes took over as CEO in January, he has been pushing to grow the 13-year-old retailer in every way possible, from store locations to more ModCloth-labeled brands to growth internationally. “It’s not hard for me to see how we can double the business from here,” Kanes says. “And then doubling it again becomes a different exercise, but one that I hope and expect to be talking about.”
ModCloth is also looking to add more product lines such as intimates, bridal and home goods, while also adding with retail partners to sell their private label.
However, despite all the growth and expansion, ModCloth will continue with its totally inclusive approach to fashion.
