#NYFW Day 5 Recap: Designers Top It Off With Headpieces

It looks like the success of Vivienne Westwood’s lids that went down the runway last year and was spotted on numerous celebrities after Pharrell made it his staple, put designers on their toes to do the same. While there weren’t many hats that graced yesterday’s catwalk, there were a few that stood out. Thom Browne is known for his extravagant headpieces, so the structured hats the models wore yesterday came to no surprise to us as the larger hats seemed just as normal as the smaller ones. What did surprise us a bit were the hats that were seen at Donna Karan. The large lids are sure to make a statement, and we can’t wait to see which celebrity will be the first to take that leap and rock it effortlessly. Other notable mentions would be Rosie Assoulin’s collection that had only a few large hats, but also featured a skirt made from straw hats, which to us, is more impressive. Milly did not have any hats, but each model wore a black headpiece that resembles that of a headscarf. We’re not really feeling the look, but we appreciate the designer’s effort.
