Paris haute couture: highlights from Viktor & Rolf

The Dutch design duo continued their return to the Paris haute couture schedule with a Fall/Winter 2014 collection.

Bows (the type you tie, not perform) and red carpet dressing were at the heart of things at Viktor & Rolf’s latest, and typically conceptual, show. The designers served up two dozen twists (excuse the pun) on scarlet fabrics, and there were plenty of redheads in the cast of models who trod the matching runway in red patent lace-up pumps.

The pieces mostly finished above the knee, with a fairly sporty feel to things. Wrapping up their ladies like presents in the carpet and towel-like fabrics, Viktor & Rolf also added patterned patches of flock for a sort of abstract animal print vibe to break up the solid textures.

A new crystal ‘flocking’ effect worked on with Atelier Swarovski (which debuted earlier this year) provided a fun touch to accessories, which included cuffs and rings. This time around all in red, naturally.
