SB Exclusive: Draya Michele Dishes On Her First Swim Week! (Plus Tips For Styling Your Suit)

In just a few short years, the Mint Swim label has become a top rated swimwear line and now, the reality star and entrepreneur is prepping for her very first L.A. Swim Week!

“Even though I’ve been in business for four years I’m still a newcomer to the industry so preparation is one of the hardest parts,” she dishes exclusively to StyleBlazer. “It’s about getting all of the pieces in the collection organized and making sure they have the look that you’re going for.”

If you’ve ever worn one of Draya’s pieces, then you know the fabric seamlessly accentuates and flatters every curve of the body; there’s a perfect balance of style and comfort that many other brands lack. Before her big day tomorrow (July 23), we got the chance to catch up with Draya and snag a few tips for styling our suits beyond the beach.

SB: Will there be never before seen designs or the most current collection?

DM: “Mostly every look in the show is going to be a new design, that’s never been seen before. It was really hard keeping my favorite pieces a secret.”

SB: How do you come up with the names for each suit? Do any of them stem from a personal experience or specific person?

DM: “Sometimes a particular swimsuit just makes me feel a certain way and sometimes the names are inspired by my friends or family members.”

SB: If you could have one celebrity walk the runway in your suits, who would it be?

DM: “I would have Ciara walk in my show. I think her athletic physique is perfect for swimsuits and her face is beautiful.”

SB: You’ve recently expanded to kids and plus size; what are your plans for further expansion in 2015/2016?

DM: “More kids, new styles, expanding the plus sizes and MEN!!!!!”
