Whether born and raised in Los Angeles or a fresh transplant to the beachside, the City of Angels is full of successful and talented individuals that have turned their ambitions into reality. One blogger that caught our attention is the style-keen Daphne Blunt. A true fashionista, actress and television personality, this gorgeous girl definitely has a refined and beautifully-distinct style.

Excited to be featured on StyleBlazer, we had a great lunch convo at the luxe Hotel Bel-Air with the talent. From her day-to-day work on To Style With Love to what she can’t get dressed without, we had much needed girl time.

On what she does and why: “I live in Los Angeles and have lived here for the past six years since moving from Miami, FL. In a nutshell, I am an old soul with a shopping addiction, passport stamp collection, and one too many pairs of shoes. The reason I started my blog was simply to express the passion I feel for all things fashion and other curiosities, too.”

On To Style, With Love, and what inspired her to start a fashion blog: “I wanted to start a blog for over a year. Before that, I had become utterly obsessed with street style and personal style bloggers such as Kayture, Man Repeller and FashionToast. I finally took the leap to launch, ‘To Style, With Love’. If you want in on the secret behind the name, it’s a play on words, referencing, ‘To Sir, With Love’, the beloved 1967 classic by Lulu.”

On her love of retro aesthetics: “I have always been an old soul. Growing up with four older siblings, I never really felt my actual age. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m about 45, mentally. Also, I think I have always been drawn to the glamour and mystique of old-hollywood starlets. There is just something so alluring about it, and just because it’s not entirely considered ‘modern,’ I think that it is still incredibly chic and fashionable.”

On what fashion icons or influencers have inspired her: “I really love retro sex-symbols and icons like Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. Not only their beauty, but their style is utterly timeless. Other people that inspire me are bloggers. As I said before, being a fan of street style played a large role in inspiring me to start my own blog. I love the looks of Atlantic-Pacific, The Blonde Salad, Fashion Toast and Look de Pernille. Seeing other people pursue the same things as you and having such well known success doing it, is incredibly inspiring.”

On one wardrobe essential that she can’t live without: “I don’t think I could live without a classic white button up. They are so versatile and a must have in any wardrobe. They can go from a chic-beach coverup to a night out, with almost any kind of skirt and a pair of heels.”

On her go-to outfit of choice: “My ‘go-to’ is either a sundress and pointed-toe flats, a cross-body, and probably my Celine trio. Or I like black cigarette pants, paired with a white button up with either flats or heels (depending on the occasion), and my trusted black Chanel flap bag.”

On what running a blog entails: “A day in my life really does vary depending on what’s going on. First thing, I usually wake up and check the blog, checking my newest post from that morning and uploading links and photos to all of my social media. Then, at least three times a week, I head out to take photos. So that means getting out of my WildFox jammies and trusted cardigan, and into whatever looks I previously styled for the week. From there I usually pick up my bff/fellow blogger to take photos with me. After that, we usually like to make our excursions into a full-day event; so we generally choose our favorite shopping locations, museums or restaurants as the photo shoot location so we can have a little fun afterwards. Then, after dinner, it’s back home and time to edit my photos and schedule the next day’s post!”

Three tips to starting a fashion blog: “The most important thing is to be consistent. Upload your content at the same time and day. Mornings are usually better, so that way, your readers know when to expect new content. Make a schedule and plan out your posts; whatever it takes to be as consistent as possible. The next thing would be to be courageous. If you have confidence in your looks and in your blog, then other people will too! Lastly, I think that being professional is very important. You can’t just email every brand expecting them to send you anything you like. You have to show people what you can do [on a numeric scale] and how you will accomplish it. Then make sure you follow through on any commitments you’ve made to keep a good reputation.”
