The Designer Behind Rihanna’s Epic Met Gala Dress Has A M.A.C. Line

Remember that time Rihanna shut down the 2015 Met Gala red carpet in a sweeping Guo Pei cape? If you’re like us and can’t fathom the expensive price tag, M.A.C. just made it possible to wear the label in a more affordable way.

The beauty giant recently recruited the Chinese designer for their latest collaboration; a line of capsule makeup, packaged in fabric designed by Pei, who had no idea who Rihanna was before this year’s Met Gala event.

“I didn’t know about her,”  she tells Refinery29. “She sent an email to my husband that she would like to wear one of my dresses, which is the yellow one. When my husband told me, I said, ‘It’s way too heavy — she’s not going to be able to wear it up [the stairs].’ But she did not give up at all.”

Those already familiar with the couturier won’t be surprised by the “garden of the soul” theme reflected in the jewel toned floral detailing on each product.

Pretty pink lip lacquers and blue shadows make up the 16 piece collection; an ideal color choice for girly girls and most of Pei’s celebrity clientele; East Asian princesses, socialites and more.

M.A.C.’s latest collab hits online stores on Sept. 24 and physical retailers on Oct. 1, but you can preview more here.
