The Pucci Renaissance Under Peter Dundas

The renaissance of Pucci has become more evident with their recent collection created under the direction of relative newcomer, Peter Dundas. In his four-year-tenure as creative director, Dundas has capitalized on the fabulous resort-oriented image that made the fashion house popular, and has updated it to appeal to the upbeat fun woman who is comfortable with enjoying herself.

Inspired by both the zodiac and the “glam both style of Stevie Nicks”, the collection is an amalgamation of jersey t-shirt dresses with zodiac constellations printed on their surfaces, numerous high-collar tops with deep plunges, evening gowns of various flattering cuts, and bold diva capes.

The black fringe cape was especially festive, paired with a white bow-collared shirt and high-waist shorts. An air of 70s flair was present throughout the entire show, as a high-spirited range of prints included black-and-white color block, paisley prints and abstract sequins.

“I think the Pucci woman is very free,” said Dundas in an April 2014 interview with Vogue UK. “She’s confident, definitely, comfortable; fun. She is multifaceted. She’s light-spirited. I just want to make clothes that make women feel yummy.”

The collection is a tremendously versatile commentary of both the contemporary renaissance of Pucci and the ever-changing, yet tasteful concept of sex appeal. Though the glamorous resort-image of the fashion house has been long abandoned, a new era of festivity, confidence and creativity has been left in its wake. A job well done by Dundas and supporting creative staff.
