You’re Not The Only One Taking Dressing Room Selfies

You’re lying if you deny sneaking in a selfie or two while shopping. The fitting room is a perfect setting for this; it’s private, well lit and filled with new outfits for you to sample..why not?!

Well, for those who take it a step further and post the mirror shot to Instagram–you’re not alone.  According to a recent study conducted by social shopping site “Shopa,” one in seven women not only take pictures of their potential purchases, but also wait for a certain number of “likes”before making a final decision.

As a result, the average time spent shopping for both men and women has increased from 16 minutes to 31 minutes and if a picture gets less than 10 likes, the outfit goes back to the racks. Additionally, 28% of British shoppers spend over two hours shopping in person while 33% do the same online.

“These results are unsurprising as, although online shopping is becoming increasingly popular, many of us still rely on our friends’ approval when purchasing new clothes or accessories,” says Behavioural psychologist Dr. Linda Papadopoulos in Daily Mail.

“The ease of being able to share a visual representation of the look or style we’re trying to achieve makes it not only easier to reach out for validation, but indeed it also fits in with the norms of social networking; where acceptance of our choices is actively sought out.”
