Youthful Rebellion as the Marc by Marc Jacobs Girls March out in Bold Slogans, Color Blocks, and Classic Prints

We bring you an up-close look at the Marc by Marc Jacobs presentation for autumn/winter 2015 shown at New York Fashion Week, which will be the brands last season before folding back into the main Marc Jacobs label. Check out the colorful protest themed collection designed by Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier as the models marched out in studded military berets onto the unique curved faux lawn catwalk.

The garments, which featured slogans including “solidarity”, “suffragette” and “our future”, were more about a revolution of youth than any specific political agenda. Checked patterns and William Morris prints were cut up in paneled sections across shirts, dresses and jackets alongside leathers and camouflage leaf fabric. Punk elements like slanted zippers on skinny trousers and studded boots contrasted with edgy femininity in black lace bubble skirt minidresses and ladylike petite box handbags.

The palette was cool and dark mixing blue and red together with khaki and black. A grunge aesthetic battled with prim classic daywear, tailored-in leather party frocks met with well-executed sophisticated style, and smart cropped jackets were rocked with cigarette pants. Key accessories included the embellished berets, slogan neck ties, block color bags and sleek utility belts with pouches.
