Naturally Fit with LaChristin- Expressersize

by LaChristin of Digital Curls

When in doubt I work it out! Exercise is an effective tool to help me relieve stress and build self-esteem. It breeds confidence in my abilities and has a positive affect on my emotions. With expectations surrounding me from every corner, I often need an outlet to escape the pressure. Unfortunately, Front Street has been closed indefinitely due to structural damage. Which means typically I’m rerouted through a detour in my pursuit of fulfillment.

I struggled mightily at one point in my life with a bout against depression, and after 12 rounds of a knock down drag out fight I finally came out victorious by way of decision. That decision was to reconnect spiritually, redefine physically, and rebuild emotionally. It has been a rocky road, full of setbacks and letdowns, and while internal scars and bruises remain, I’ve found a healthy dose of physical training coupled with prayer, and an abundance of hugs has played a vital role in my transformation. I’m now confident, energetic, enthusiastic, and vibrant able to view life through a clearer lens.

Now venturing back into my past isn’t a complete eyesore; I understand why my previous struggles are vital to my present successes. It has instilled a passion for improvement, allowed me to remain humble, and has continued to steer my focus towards inspiring others to Make Moves That Make A Difference (MMTMAD). If you take nothing else away please accept this, it wasn’t my shape that defined me; however, being out of shape (spiritually, physically, and emotionally) most certainly confined me!

In this clip I’m executing the Bulgarian Split Squat.

Food for thought: pain is our worst enemy, but like the old saying goes “keep your friends close and your enemies closer.” We’ve all had our experiences with pain, but how we frame and shape those experiences will ultimately determine how we see ourselves. We connect with pain so it becomes a part of our lives, but I challenge pain! I put it to the test, and make certain my pain equates to meaningful results, whether it’s a reflection of the transformation of my body or the transformation of my mind.
