Is Net-A-Porter the Next Facebook?

It’s only been a month since Net-A-Porter announced its merge with Yoox, and now the online retail giant is back with some more big news. Earlier this week, Net-A-Porter made public a new mobile-based social network called The Net Set.

The Net Set will be part Pintrest, part Facebook and will include an e-commerce functionality that links back to the Net-A-Porter site. Natalie Massenet, executive chairperson and founder of the Net-A-Porter group said of the company’s new venture, “The rise of social media and style blogs has shown that women around the world are inspired by each other’s style and their closets. The Net Set is to mobile in 2015 what Net-a-Porter.com was to desktop in 2000.”

The app will allow users to post, like, share and––of course––shop trending items. The Net Set is set to launch on May 13, 2015 to those who have been lucky enough to receive an invitation code and will be compatible with all mobile Apple products.
