The 5 Most Pot-Stirring Plus-Sized Editorials

Plus sized fashion editorials, while gorgeous, can be some of the most one-dimensional (creatively speaking) productions ever. The models are either a) unclothed with heavy makeup (or none at all) and lying around or b) eating something sweet or savory…and lying around. Interestingly enough, the average American woman is a size 14 or 16 making these editorials very ostracizing seeing as plus-sized models are representations of the American woman’s actual body.
The most recent controversial spread took place a few months ago – Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book ran an editorial called “Candy Vaggio” shot by Tom Ford featuring a mix of different sized models lying all provocatively about in their expensive lingerie and designer heels. The shots show the fuller figure girls indulging in candy (how dare she not wait until after the shoot!) as she “chases divine decadence” as stated in the description of the shoot.
I think it’s safe to say that we’re all tired of seeing plus-sized models stuffing their faces in magazines. Want more proof of the one-dimensional portrayal of plus sized models? Check out some of the recent controversial plus-sized editorials below:
